Interfaith Caring Ministries Announces 2012 Board Members

Interfaith Caring MinistriesWith seven new board members and nine who are returning, Interfaith Caring Ministries in League City had their first board meeting on January 23. This organization provides emergency food, rent and utility assistance; mental health counseling; child care assistance; referral to low- or no-cost medical services; school supplies; and outreach for homebound senior citizens to residents of the zip codes served by Friendswood ISD and Clear Creek ISD.

On January 24, The Daily News published a special article from Interfaith Caring Ministries. Click here to read this article about the great programs and dedicated board members of this United Way Galveston County Mainland Partner Agency.

Why a Local Governing Board Matters

Having a local board of directors ensures that the needs of a specific community are identified and met. A governing board is responsible for the financial decisions of an organization. When these volunteers live and work in the communities that their agency serves, it makes a big difference in the impacts that are made.

In fact, having a local board of directors is a requirement to be a United Way Galveston County Mainland Partner Agency. We have this funding requirement because we are committed to being good stewards of our donors’ money. Employees of businesses across Galveston County donate to United Way through payroll deduction, directly from their hard-earned wages. We respect and honor their hard work, and we work hard to keep these donations right here, in Galveston County, on the Mainland.
